The story behind Hiltingbury Interiors
I’m Becci Oldman and Hiltingbury Interiors represents a huge step towards sharing my love for interior design. Here’s my story.
I had a fabulous career for over 25 years at John Lewis. Always in creative and leadership roles, including designing Christmas, and specialising for many years in Visual Merchandising and Styling. I have also project managed various large scale design projects and retail refurbishments.
I love meeting people and place huge value on having good communication and honest relationships with my suppliers as well as my customers.
I’ve studied Interior Design and that is where my passion has always been. I left my busy corporate job in London when I started my maternity leave and five years later, once my daughter started school, I established Hiltingbury Interiors. I’m delighted to say that over the last few years the business has grown through word of mouth and reputation and I’m now busier than ever.
Why did I become an Interior Designer?
I love helping people to create amazing homes that enhance the way they live. Your home is a really important space and if it has the right look and feel that suits your lifestyle it can really help bring equilibrium to your life.
I believe that a beautiful home can bring peace, reflect personality and become a place where many happy memories are made.
Working with me means that you will have a unique scheme designed for you, tailored for the needs of you and your family. I have access to an extensive library of fabrics, wallpapers, paints and accessories, which most of my customers don’t have the time to search through, or even know where to start. But that’s the beauty of using a designer.
Yes I have my own style preferences but when I’m working it’s about listening to your needs, your likes and dislikes, understanding your space and making the process easy for you.
Something quite overwhelming can become fun and exciting.
Once I’ve understood your brief the creativity can start and I will pull together ideas and suggestions for you, saving you hours searching on the internet or trawling the high street for the few furnishings shops left in existence. Once you’ve made your final decisions everything will be ordered, meticulously made and delivered to your specifications.
One of my favourite things is finding something truly individual for my clients. Whether it’s having tiles designed and hand painted for the kitchen, re upholstering a family heirloom or commissioning a local artist to create a piece of art to don the walls in a newly refurbished sitting room, there is something wonderful about providing something original and personal as part of the design story we create. Combining this with an efficient service and beautiful hand made soft furnishings ensures my customers can realise the true value of using a designer to enhance their home and the way they live.
I love what I do and hope our paths will cross either in business or pleasure sometime soon!
