Brief
The client wanted to create a brighter, fresher living room that would also be inviting, comfortable and relaxing. The colours and style needed to tone with the recently fitted and decorated kitchen, with dark blue units and mustard yellow walls. The client wished to retain and enhance the original cottage features. The glass doors lead into the conservatory dining area meaning that any curtains hung could be viewed from both sides.
The Design
Sanderson’s Pressed Flower fabric was the starting point and inspiration for this scheme. The fabric brings together the colours we needed to create the right look for this property. It is a perfect match to the colours in the kitchen and dining room and it enabled us to bring the light airy feel that was required. This fabric was teamed with other natural weaves to create interest and texture with the roman blind, cushions, accessories and furniture. The curtains are interlined to add weight as well as lined with Sanderson Cherwell fabric so that they look good from both sides. The new navy sofa contrasts well with the striped wooden floor and the customers existing footstool recovered in Scion Neo fabric. The curtain pole and accessories are black metal to match the log burner. The walls are painted in Sanderson Dawn Blue.
Kind words
“I was so glad to find Becci via a mutual friend. I had a difficult project which was a very dark and neglected sitting room, and I was really struggling to get it right. With Becci’s help, the room is transformed into a cosy, comfortable and surprisingly light room. Everybody who comes to the house comments on what a lovely feel the room has. Thanks Becci!”
