A note for January from Hiltingbury Interiors
Hello,
As we settle into 2025, I've been reflecting on the power of visualisation and the impact it has on both our personal lives and homes. For several years now, I've embraced the practice of creating vision boards at the start of each year, not just for business targets, but for personal aspirations too.
The Power of Vision Boards
As a visual person, I find Pinterest the perfect platform for creating these boards. What I love most is the ability to add inspiration throughout the year, and look back to see how many visions became reality. While they include ambitious goals like travel, they also capture smaller, meaningful moments such as reading, baking with my daughter, nurturing relationships, and maintaining my commitment to healthy, home-cooked meals.
Our Bedroom Transformation
Speaking of visions becoming reality, one of last year's goals was renovating our bedroom, a project that, despite a busy year, has come to fruition. It's become more than just a room; it's a sanctuary that offers a warm hug every time you enter. The new finishes, furniture, lighting, and bedding have created such an inviting atmosphere that getting up on wintery mornings has become quite the challenge!
Interestingly, our chosen colour scheme aligns perfectly with 2025's Pantone Colour of the Year, Mocha Mousse. These earthy, natural tones are set to dominate interior design this year, which we shall talk about more in next month's newsletter.
The Perfect Master Bedroom
This renovation has reinforced my belief in the importance of a well-designed master bedroom. While children's and teenagers' rooms often need to serve multiple purposes, your master bedroom should be a personal retreat, a space that's genuinely restorative for you. Here are some key elements to consider when designing the ideal space for you and your partner.
1) Mood
Consider the atmosphere you want to create. For many it is about warmth, coziness, and creating a contemporary yet comfortable and calm space that complements the rest of your home. For others it may be somewhere calm, light, fresh and relaxing!
2) Lighting and Controls
Don't underestimate the power of thoughtful lighting design. It is crucial for both ambience and functionality, where the lighting can be altered to suit the time of day and the task in hand. Ensure convenience with easily accessible switches, add dimmers for relaxation and also, USB ports to save the need for bulky chargers and extension leads.
3) Comfort
Prioritise comfort in every detail, including the carpet, mattress, pillows, cushions, and linens.
4) Windows Dressings
Come winter or summer you need to be able to get the lighting levels right at day and night, so ensure your curtains/shutters/blinds can be altered to suit your needs.
