A note for July from Hiltingbury Interiors
Let's start with a Thank You!
We’ve been totally overwhelmed by the lovely messages from customers and suppliers since moving into our new home. It’s been great to see everyone who has popped in to wish us well. We feel very humbled, thank you.
The last few weeks have continued to be busy, alongside our client projects we’ve been adding gorgeous samples and accessories to the new studio. It’s starting to look as we’d envisaged now… Though I think it’ll be an ever changing and evolving space, that’s just the nature of what we do!
Outdoor Living
I had some new garden furniture delivered yesterday and since then it’s been raining on and off - typical! Fingers crossed it’ll be sunny later today so we can get it all set up and then enjoy a glass of wine out there this evening!
We have a small garden so the furniture layout has to work efficiently. Having levelled the garden some years back, we created a great spot for enjoying the afternoon and evening sun. A modular corner sofa works perfectly in the space, and the new set we’ve purchased has the flexibility to be separated into two sofas. It includes a side table, extra pull out drinks table and footstool - it’s a great design in a relatively compact arrangement, cleverly designed by the in-house team at John Lewis.
If you’re considering updating your outdoor furniture I suggest approaching it as an extension of your interior space. Breaking it down into zones; lounging, dining and cooking. Try to link the colours and style of the furniture and accessories, so they flow on from your internal living space, especially if you have large patio doors creating a real indoor/outdoor space.
If you are thinking of revamping your existing furniture and cushions, you need to select an “outdoor fabric”. They differ from other fabrics, as they are put through a chemical process during manufacturing so that they will resist stains, mould and won’t fade when in sunlight.
There are so many choices for great outdoor fabrics on the market these days. Sunbrella is probably most widely known but brands like Romo, Villa Nova and Thibaut, have some fabulous ranges including trimmings suitable for outdoors. We really can be very creative with what we design for outdoor spaces these days!
Do get in touch if we can be of any assistance sourcing new outdoor furniture, or revamping and bringing new life to your existing pieces.
Holiday Time
I’m taking a break, for a slightly earlier than usual, summer holiday. It’s been a busy few months so I’m heading off to find sun, sea and sand for total relaxation... before heading home to celebrate a big birthday and the juggle of the school holidays!
Bex is holding the fort in my absence, with Ali and Rachel on hand, looking after their areas of expertise too. Have a good few weeks and I’ll see you on the other side!
With love
